first haircut

continuing from last friday's post.... here are some pictures from charlie's first haircut back in june given to him by our friend amber nelson.

sorry we're behind. over the next several days we will try to catch you up on our happenings from the summer so far.

there's nothing too special about this picture (besides the cute mop head in it)... i just like it a lot...

bam bam

this is a brief example of why we call charlie our little "bam bam".

his "weapon" is a thin metal tray that his birthday cake was on. we left in in the back of the car because he likes to bang on it with his hands... now he has a different game.
i was only able to catch the last few "head slams" before he stopped b/c i was driving.

Charlie's 1st birthday!!

Sunday (the 25th) was Charlie's first birthday! We had a party for him at his Grandma and Grandpa Allen's house. We had lots of fun guests like, Pawpaw and Gran (all the way from Tennessee), aunts, uncles, cousins, Granny and Gramps (Rose), Mamaw Nean, and even Momma's friend Kelly! Charlie sure doesn't starve for attention!

Here, Charlie is just engaging in a little dinnertime conversation (actually lunch) with the family before opening his gifts.

Gifts, by the way, were not in short supply!

Charles got lots of new clothes, some cool toys (some noisy ones too - thanks Uncle Mark!), and a fun pool for the summer.

Daddy just had to help him figure out how to really get into the cake - he wasn't quite sure he liked all that sticky icing on his fingers...

...but then he figured out that he did!!

And then, Charlie went for a little swim. I don't know if this makes me a bad momma or not, but I didn't make him wait 30 minutes after he ate!

Interestingly enough, the water hose was the favorite water toy by far!! Who'd have thought?!?

And then, Sir Charles finished off his evening with a relaxing swing. Happy Birthday baby boy!!

1st mother's day -2008

one year old in less than 2 weeks!

christi and i gained a nephew on april 12th. alex jonathan king was born and charlie became a big cousin!

we were glad to see several friends from martin and memphis while we were in west tennessee.. hopefully we'll be back sooner than later.

"the laugh"

you have heard about the "billy goat/horse whiney/gremlin" laugh that charlie has been doing. sometimes he gets on a roll and does it very loudly and holds it out for a long time-but he always stops when a camera comes out.

catch up time...

i finally got a lot of pictures from the last 6 weeks or so. these are from the beginning of march up through today.

our boy is over 10 months old now.. we especially enjoy how his blonde hair curls around the sides and back! he is more and more mobile... he has taken a couple of steps on at least 3 different occasions.. so we are waiting (dreading?) the day when he starts walking...

in the next few days i will put up one of the only "on demand" performances of the billy goat/horse whiney/gremlin laugh.
