with the holidays coming up, it seems we have been getting more emails and cards from people we havent seen in ages, so i thought this would be a good place to give a brief summary of the past year or so..
we are still in louisville, ky. anytime anyone is in the area, we would love to have some company!
our son charles allen cavness was born on may 25, weighing in at 9lbs. and 14 oz. and 22 inches long. 6 months later, he is 23 lbs. and almost 30 inches long... and the happiest baby we or anyone who has met him have ever known. christi is an amazing mom and has taken on her new role and all of its demands as if she has been doing it all of her life. she is also playing piano at church, as if she didnt already have enough to do! i am married to superwoman (see also charlie's birth weight)

christi is still teaching special education at oldham county middle school. though dealing with middle schoolers day in and day out can be quite the sanctifier, she is good at what she does. in addition to that she is a full time mom who loves her son to pieces. the two of them are the greatest of friends.
also this year, i began as pastor of a small church in rural kentucky about 30 miles north of louisville. we love it there and the people are so sweet and welcoming. and they are hooked on charlie. i was licensed to the ministry last year, and was ordained this year.
i am also still working at unique management services in jeffersonville, indiana, as i finish up my work on my mater's degree at southern seminary. only 4 more classes to go!
the past year i wrote a series of bible studies on exodus that were published in "collegiate" magazine, as well as contributing to an on-line magazine. i have also been keeping a blog of my own to discuss faith, culture, and the church.
in october i had my 2nd back surgery in 9 years. christi was amazing as she had 2 "big babies" to take care of for 6 weeks or so. we are very blessed to have amazing families who all did as much as possible to help out.
its been an eventful year to say the least! the lord has been gracious to us and we are ever thankful for it.
we hope everyone enjoys the holiday season and hope to hear from or see you soon!

I'm so glad we got to see you last night. Charlie is precious and I think it was the begining of a friendship between he and Jack.. they were wonderful! Jack has the same baseball outfit that charlie is wearing in a previous post.
You all look wonderful! Glad things feel like they are getting back to "normal". Maybe early next year we can all get together again.
Susan
we've got to get together sometime when we're home. :)
Charlie is so cute! He sounds alot like Benjamin. Benjamin is the happiest little guy we know (of course we have not met Charlie so who knows we could be wrong, hehe) and Benjamin is a big boy. He was close to 20lbs at 6months. He has tapered off a bit and was 21 lbs. at his 9mo. check up!
We hope you guys have a Merry Christmas, maybe we will get to meet Charlie soon!
